20 years of
DC Jobs with Justice

DC Jobs with Justice is a dynamic coalition of labor organizations, community groups, faith-based organizations, and student groups dedicated to protecting the rights of working people, supporting community struggles, and promoting racial justice to build a more just society.

The organization celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021, and as part of the observance they wanted to capture stories from the organization’s history and share them through a video series, new website, and social media campaign. The project built over the course of the year and culminated at their annual awards event that featured a custom poster celebrating 20 years of their work fighting for economic and worker justice in DC.

Clockwise from left: Custom poster artwork, social graphics, video storytelling, and a dedicated microsite were all part of DCJWJ’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Worthy Studio partnered with video producers Washington Digital Media, web designer and developer Dan Klingessrow, and illustrator L.A. Johnson to create everything that was part of DCJWJ’s 20th anniversary celebration.

The final project at 20years.dcjwj.org features video interviews with 20 leaders from the organization’s history, crowdsourced contributions from supporters and allies, and an overview of the biggest campaigns from the organization’s history. These materials were shared over the course of the year to celebrate the 20th anniversary and to help promote registration for the 2021 I’ll Be There Awards, a virtual version of DCJWJ’s annual event. A custom illustrated poster was sent to all event registrants as the culmination of the year of events.
